I am Here. In Lovely San Francisco. First year in San Francisco was complete earlier this week. If I look back, I feel really good about my life. I love my job. My co-workers are fun. One especially is a gifted near brilliant geek who has helped me bring my passion for code back ! Ran my first trail run. Then a First Half Marathon. Later in the year, nearly died at the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim. 21 miles of gruelling hiking. Got a new perspective on my life after the Hike. Am very grateful that I am alive. Still alive. A normal guy doing well in life, in general. 500 dollars and 2 suitcases, to this, is a long way ! For me atleast. Sir Naipaul says in Bend in the River. "The world is what it is. Men who are nothing, who allow themselves to be nothing, have no place in it.". I am glad I am not one of those men.
Here in San Francisco, some more things I am happy about. The calmness of everything. The worry free weather. My attachments to her cats. Both of them. Cats really have 9 lives ! More. The fact that I did pull off the exit from New England. And did the cross country drive. Some more. The indian food here is incredible. Desi peeps are also millionaire in Silicon Valley. They have money, respect and power. In turn, the white folks respect and admire Desi peeps more than the apple pies in New England do.
So only here and only now, I finally feel almost comfortable in my own brown skin.
(This was a stream of consciousness writing. I wrote down whatever came to my mind at 9:38 p.m., after beginning to unintentionally thinking about my 1 year move anniversary here to San Francisco. So it is a silly read. Really. I mean who cares anyway. Like Wallenda once said "Walking a tight rope is living. The rest is just waiting..." )
